Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about accounts, local editing, cloud AI, file size, and how advertising works on content pages.
What is Vocix?
Vocix is an online audio, video, and image editor made in India. Upload a file, describe what you want in plain language — like "trim from 0:00 to 0:30", "convert to webp", or "merge these videos with crossfade" — and Vocix processes it for you.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Vocix runs in your web browser. Most editing uses FFmpeg loaded directly in the browser, so you do not need to download desktop software. Optional Windows and Android apps are also available.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
For standard editing (trim, merge, split, convert, compress, change resolution, and similar), processing happens locally in your browser with FFmpeg. For AI transcription, text-to-speech, image generation, and background removal, media or text is temporarily uploaded so our servers can complete the AI request.
What stays private with local FFmpeg?
Mechanical edits that run in-browser keep media on your device during processing: trims, merges, transitions, splits, compress, mute, speed, resolution changes, many audio converts, and common image convert/crop/compress tasks. Loading the site and signing in still use the network for the app and account, but those local edits do not require sending the full file to an AI API.
Which features use cloud AI?
Transcription, text-to-speech, AI image generation, and AI background removal use cloud APIs and consume free daily quotas. Image to Video AI slideshows are quota-gated through your account even when assembly is designed to run in the browser. On-screen notices show when a credit will be used.
What file types are supported?
You can upload common audio, video, and image formats (such as MP3, MP4, JPG, PNG, WebP, and similar types). You can also upload a ZIP of video parts for merge or transition workflows. Files around 100MB or less are most reliable in the browser.
Why is there a 100MB file size limit?
Browser-based processing has memory limits. Files over 100MB may fail or be too large for certain features like video transitions. Try compressing large videos first with a "compress video" prompt, or change resolution to 720p before heavier edits.
How do I merge two files?
Upload your first file, click "Add second file", attach the second audio or video, then type a prompt like "merge these audios" or "merge videos with crossfade transition".
How do video transitions work?
After adding two videos (or using a parts ZIP workflow), ask to merge with a transition or open the transition picker. Vocix supports many styles such as crossfade, wipes, slides, and radial effects. Transition duration must be shorter than the shortest clip or the merge cannot run.
When should I use a hard cut instead of a crossfade?
Use a hard cut ("merge these videos") for dialogue continuity, tutorial steps, and fast-paced highlights. Use a short crossfade when the mood should soften between scenes or when a raw cut feels abrupt. Avoid long decorative transitions on every join.
How does transcription work?
Type a prompt like "transcribe this audio" or specify a language (for example "transcribe in Hindi"). Your file is uploaded, transcribed with AI, and you receive text you can preview or download. Free accounts have a daily transcription limit (2/day, resets at midnight UTC).
What is Text to Speech?
Text to Speech lets you turn written text into natural AI voice audio in supported languages. Open the Text to Speech panel on the home page — no file upload required. Free accounts include a daily TTS limit (2/day, resets at midnight UTC).
How do I remove an image background?
Upload a JPG or PNG and prompt "remove background" or "make image transparent", or use the dedicated background removal control when shown. This AI feature uploads the image temporarily and is limited to 2 removals per day per account (midnight UTC reset).
Can I generate images with AI?
Yes. Open the AI image generation panel, enter a text prompt, and download the result. Free accounts include a daily image generation limit (2/day, resets at midnight UTC). Do not use generated media to mislead people about real events or identities.
How does Image to Video AI work?
Open the Image to Video AI box (or prompt to turn images into a video). Upload up to 12 JPG/PNG/WebP images—folder upload keeps name order—optionally add music, pick transitions, and export an MP4. Fair-use limit is 3 generations per day (midnight UTC).
How do I change aspect ratio or crop an image?
Upload an image and prompt "change aspect ratio to 16:9", "make image 1:1", or "crop this image". Presets such as 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, and 3:4 are supported. Use crop when you need a manual frame; use aspect-ratio prompts for a quick centered fit.
How do I change video resolution?
Upload a video and prompt "change video resolution to 720p", "make video 1080p", or "resize video to 480p". Vocix scales down for sharing and performance; keep files near 100MB or less for reliable browser encodes.
What are the free AI daily quotas?
Free accounts include daily limits that reset at midnight UTC. Typical limits are: transcription 2/day, text-to-speech 2/day, AI image generation 2/day, background removal 2/day, and Image to Video AI 3/day. Your profile shows remaining counts. Local FFmpeg edits do not consume these AI credits.
Is Vocix really free?
Yes. Core browser editing is free with an account. AI features include free daily quotas so usage stays fair for everyone. Quotas are shown in your account. There is no paid plan required for standard local edits.
Can I use Vocix without an account?
You can read guides, FAQ, About, blog, and legal pages without an account. You need a free account to open the editor and run edits so we can protect the service and attach fair-use AI quotas.
Why is an account required for the editor?
Accounts reduce anonymous abuse, enable secure sessions, and let Vocix enforce free daily AI limits per user. Content and help pages stay public; only the editing workspace requires sign-in.
Does Vocix show ads?
The website may show Google AdSense ads on content pages such as guides, FAQ, and informational articles. Ads are not placed on empty editor screens. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies work.
How do Google AdSense cookies work on Vocix?
On eligible content pages, Google and partners may use cookies or similar identifiers for advertising, ad measurement, and security. Authentication cookies for sign-in are separate. Details and controls are explained on the Privacy Policy page (/privacy).
Is Vocix available on Windows and Android?
Yes. The primary experience is the web app in a modern browser. Optional Windows (including Microsoft Store) and Android companion apps are also available for convenient access to the same Vocix product.
Why is FFmpeg processing slow or stuck?
Local encodes use your CPU and RAM. Close heavy tabs, plug in laptop power, and avoid huge 4K files. Compress or downscale first, then retry. Refreshing mid-encode can cancel work—wait for completion. Very large files above ~100MB often fail; shrink them before transitions or long merges.
What should I do with large video files?
Compress with "compress video" or change resolution to 720p/1080p before trim, merge, or transitions. Split long recordings into parts, edit the pieces, then merge—optionally via a ZIP parts workflow. Keep sources near 100MB for stable browser processing.
How do I delete my account or ask about my data?
Visit our Contact page and send us a message, or email the address listed there. We will help with account deletion or privacy-related requests as described in the Privacy Policy.
Who publishes Vocix?
Vocix is an independent project operated by Avinash in India. See the About page for publisher details and contact channels.
What image tools are included?
Convert between JPG, PNG, and WebP; crop and change aspect ratio; compress for the web; AI background removal; AI image generation; and Image to Video AI slideshows with optional music and transitions.
Can I extract audio or add music to a video?
Yes. Prompt "extract audio from this video" or convert to MP3 after upload. To add a soundtrack, use add-music style flows with a second audio file where supported, or build a slideshow with music in Image to Video AI.
What makes Vocix different from other editors?
Vocix combines audio, video, and image editing in one AI-assisted browser app. You describe many edits in plain language instead of learning a complex timeline, and most standard edits run locally for privacy while optional cloud AI stays quota-limited and explicit.
